This species has proven to be quite growable and floriferous. It is a smaller-growing species in cultivation, perfect for a container or hanging basket. The leaves are smooth and obovate to oblanceolate in shape. The flowers are bright carmine-rose and appear over an extended period. Native to the island of Sulawesi (the Celebes), SE Asia where it occurs primarily as an epiphyte in mossy forests from 5,900 to 8,500 ft.

 

1997/059  Helm & Farbarik:RSBG (+32\R1\2). New species to cultivation with rose-purple flowers on and off throughout the year.  Quite easy.  Introduced from Sulawesi by RSF members Hank Helm and John Farbarik.

 

1997/064  Helm & Farbarik  (+32\R1\2).  Newly introduced into cultivation from Sulawesi.  This dwarf and floriferous species has rose-purple tubular flowers.  A great new vireya.
