Shrubs 7 to 20 ft.  Flowers, (April) are pale to lemon-yellow with brown or purple spots.  Common above tree line where it is found among scrub and on ridges at 11,000 to 15,000 ft.  Himalayas.

 

1973/300  CS  (-5).  Open upright large shrub with a lax truss.  Yellow flowers (April-May) with a maroon-red blotch at the base of the corolla and distinct dark stamens in a circular pattern around a closed campanulate corolla.  Notable for a calyx of about 1”.

 

1975/006  Hillier  (-5).  Very distinct Himalayan, hardy and sun tolerant, supporting broadly elliptic leaves to 10 inches long and half-dome (one-sided) trusses of ruffled cream-yellow flowers.
