A hardy Japanese member of the Ponticum series.  Forms a well-clothed, rounded shrub, especially on the east coast.

1965/281  Borde Hill (-15).  This clone with light pink flowers, enlivened with darker veining and spots.

1973/180  (var. tsukushianum)  WEB  (-15).  The form of the species introduced by H. L. Larson, for long one of the few valid representatives of the Japanese plant in cultivation, with seven lobed light pink flowers and dense indumentum of earthy orange.

1975/139  (var. kyomaruense)  WEB  (-15).  A hardy Japanese plant with delicate pink flowers and handsome foliage of silvery-white wings as growth begins.  Later losing the upper surface tomentum but remaining felted silvery-gray below.

1976/111   'Enamoto'  WEB  (-15).

1976/357  Wada:W. Berg  (-15).  A form of typical habit, leaf and pink flower color but 8 and 9 lobes in the flowers.
