Large evergreen shrubs or small trees with glossy foliage.Attractive bronzy to reddish new growth on this free-flowering, rarely seen relative of R. irroratum.The flowers are rose to lilac, usually with a small crimson blotch and spots (mid-spring).Native to China (NW Yunnan, SW Sichuan and SE Tibet) where it occurs in woodlands and on open rocky slopes from 7,000 to 13,000 ft.
