Erect but relatively small-growing evergreen shrubs with attractive peeling reddish bark. The pale yellow to cream, tubular bell-shaped flowers are often flushed with pink and occur in dense clusters of three to seven in early spring. A beautiful but rarely seen species requiring excellent drainage, probably fairly heat tolerant. So far known only from the Tsangpo Gorge in SE Tibet where it occurs on cliffs and stream banks from 7,000 to 8,500 ft.
