A small evergreen shrub with an upright growth habit.  The three inch elliptic leaves have a reddish brown fuzzy indumentum beneath.  The tubular bell-shaped flowers (mid-spring) are red with a fleshy texture.  A rare species closely related to the very similar floccigerum and sperabile.  Only collected once in the wild when it was found by George Forest at 10,000 ft. in NW Yunnan.  Excellent drainage required.

1975/093  F#14195:WIND  (-5\R2\3).  Bright red waxy flowers with darker nectaries and faint flecks in this vigorous clone.
